Old BBS-Style ANSI Art to UTF-8

Noticed Mewbies do things along these lines, so I wanted to share this and ask a question.

I made this tool for converting old ANSI art to things I can use in my MOTDs since I couldn't find the right mix of preexisting tools to get the job done:

https://github.com/BourgeoisBear/ansiart2utf8

Does anyone know of something that already does this?  iconv will do most of the character conversion, but I couldn't find any canned tools to expand and sanitize ESC codes such that the lines wrap properly and colors are cleared and restored at the right points.

Also, I tested mostly with Blocktronics files, and I think they mostly do PabloDraw.  If anyone has some files they'd like to try with it, I'd appreciate any feedback.

Did you look at ansi2html?  For converting to images, there are also ansilove and ansi2gif mentioned on Mewbies.
